Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, and facilities within an organization. This role involves managing a team of technicians, developing maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing maintenance processes to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency. The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in maximizing the lifespan of equipment, ensuring smooth production processes, and maintaining a safe working environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures facility and equipment meets all OSHA and Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Support the operations with implementation in an accident and injury-free work environment through leadership by example, modeling safe behavior, and supporting established safety initiatives, including GMP and housekeeping practices.
  • Manages the reliability workforce, develops succession plans, skills assessments and training.
  • Ensures compliance of air, water, sewage, or other form of pollutants per standards set by Federal, State, and Local governments.
  • Supervise and direct maintenance staff on safe operations and enforce LOTO, Food Defense, Food Safety & Food Quality Plans, GMPs, HACCP Program.
  • Develop and report weekly and monthly maintenance KPIs and connect in process results in the maintenance area (i.e. PM completion, % of schedule time as planned downtime for PM activity, maintenance labor utilization, mean time to repair, parts room inventory record accuracy, # of BDE activities completed) to output results (# of breakdowns, operating efficiency loss due to breakdowns)
  • Coordinate the maintenance department’s use of root cause analysis tools to effectively identify the root causes of breakdowns and put in preventative measures to avoid repeatable failure modes.
  • Lead a team of maintenance technicians in high-pressure troubleshooting of complex processing and packaging equipment (VFFS, extruders, and robotics), prioritizing rapid return-to-service while coaching staff on advanced diagnostic techniques to move beyond 'symptom-fixing' to true mechanical resolution.
  • Drive long-term equipment reliability by facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic failures and leveraging FMEA to push system transformation from firefighting cultures into a data-driven maintenance team that owns the lifecycle of the machinery.
  • Supervise and direct the planning and scheduling of all work through the auditing and management of the PM and Work order modules in Manager Plus.
  • Lead the deployment of the planning and scheduling workflow to a sustainable process with stakeholder support, driving increased performance in proactive work metrics.
  • Drive methods and metrics to determine and increase the reliability of components, equipment and processes.
  • Direct all maintenance spending toward critical asset reliability and preventative care, ensuring the facility meets production quotas without exceeding budgetary limits.
  • Manage the parts room, spare parts inventory and Manager Plus system to ensure that the efficiency of planned and unplanned work are not negatively impacted by parts availability.
  • Ensure maintenance and reliability standards comply with applicable regulatory and Eagle quality standards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety guidelines, GMP’s and PMO requirements for facility.
  • Continuously improve the operation by staying current with new technologies, consistent cost analysis, implementing sustainable best practices, identifying non-value-added elements.
  • Work under general direction of plant manager in performing detailed reliability studies and calculations of component/system reliabilities. Foster environment of zero downtime and quality holds through cross-training functionality with packaging and process operators regarding autonomous maintenance and equipment ownership.
  • Consider impact of costs on recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or remedial action for correcting reliability problems on installed equipment.
  • Provide expert support during the automation of processes and deployment of maintenance standards to assure compliance to regulatory and/or Eagle requirements and provide development/training.
  • Plan Capex and perform engineering research, design development, or manufacturing/process engineering assignments, including responsibility for major subsections of projects using general engineering practices influenced by the general theme of reliability principles.
  • Develop and lead maintenance replacement capital project planning and execution.
  • Maintains positive relations with all associates and ensures proper training is provided to meet all technical and soft skills required of the associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a maintenance leadership role
  • Experience with Manager Plus (or similar CMMS) preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) certification or demonstrated TPM experience a plus
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting expertise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

This role offers a salary range of $115,203.00 – $136,800.00, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus and, for certain leadership roles, Long-Term Incentive (LTI) opportunities.
