Responsibilities

The Sr. Director, Consumer & Category Insights is a critical role at Eagle Foods and will help define the insights driven growth strategy for our brands and categories with consumer, customer and product focused insights. This role will report to the EVP of Marketing and R&D and will partner with cross functional teams to lead all consumer, category, brand and sensory insights work, including analysis and insights from syndicated and retailer data. The Sr Director of Insights will have an integral role to play in strategic business decisions and engage with the Leadership Team to drive an insights and consumer driven growth mindset.

 

This role will lead a team to deliver actionable insights to the business to drive strategy and business growth. The candidate needs to be passionate about the role Insights play in driving our brand, category and customer growth strategies. The role goes beyond data, we are looking for someone to inspire our teams through insights to develop creative and differentiated growth strategies. The role requires a person with the vision to create an insights driven playbook for understanding categories, brands, customers and consumers to identify growth and development opportunities. The individual must be able to collaborate and support the brand/innovation/category/sales teams across the organization

 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to combine internal and external analysis to create holistic view of consumer behavior and brand and category dynamics
  • Ability to manage a broad set of research efforts including surveys, analysis of secondary data, and qualitative methods to gain a deep understanding of consumers and categories
  • Ability to work cross functionally with the sales team to support an insights driven customer strategy and execution
  • Ability to think outside the box to bring new ways to gain insights that are faster and more efficient while delivering insightful findings
  • Ability to summarize complex data, communicate and make recommendations to the Leadership Team, sales, R&D and marketing.
  • A strong work ethic and capability to think strategically whilst managing multiple hands-on tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Be the insights and consumer champion in the organization with a relentless focus on understanding the consumer, the brands and the categories.
  • Work with the broader team to shape corporate strategy and identify how insights can help steer decision making. Partner closely with marketing and innovation teams to understand and support business objectives and ensure research efforts are meeting demands and translating into growth opportunities.
  • Work hand in hand with Sales team to build best in class, insights driven sell in stories
  • Build the frameworks and methodology for answering business-relevant consumer and market questions via primary and secondary research.
  • Optimize ways of working with Marketing, Sales, Innovation and other parts of the company; connect business issues to research objectives and methodologies to provide insights-based, actionable recommendations that drives continuous business growth
  • Develop and present fact-based insights to drive a deeper understanding of Eagle’s categories and brands
  • Identify white space opportunities to increase market share through data analytics and customized research efforts.
  • Be responsible for high quality research and analysis processes and their actionable outcomes.
  • Build a skilled organization responsive to the needs of the business, including the ability to deliver actionable consumer insights that not only help shape business decisions but lead the business in new directions and deliver growth opportunities.
  • Coach and develop individuals and teams that have both the technical capabilities to drive business results, but also the resonant leadership to drive engagement and growth.
  • Use data to create compelling & actionable recommendations for growing the business
  • Identify, onboard, and manage external agency partners; manage department budget and resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics or other related field; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years’ experience in Insights/Research/Marketing
  • CPG/Food & Beverage experience
  • Up to date knowledge of market research methodologies, tools and providers
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to explain complex information succinctly to an audience
  • Experience in Customer sell in strategy and story telling
  • Experience managing teams and multiple categories
  • Experience in brand turnarounds, driving accelerated innovation agendas and crafting category growth stories is a plus

Additional Information 

This position requires intermittent overnight travel, estimated at 20–30%.

This role offers a salary range of $167,137.30 - $230,000.00 along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus and, for certain leadership roles, Long-Term Incentive (LTI) opportunities.
