Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The Business Intelligence (BI) developer will play a key role in designing various analytical reports based on our Infor M3 cloud-based ERP system as we as several other external sources.  The BI developer supports and grows our enterprise data and analytics environment and will serve as a member of the Enterprise Master Data and Analytics team. As a BI developer, you will be working with business users, collecting their requests, analyzing their needs and developing insightful reports and dashboards.  While working with other team members, you will ensure standardization and continuity within data models. This team member will be proficient in Power BI and Data Warehousing technologies. They will contribute to data-driven decision-making and generate process optimization across our organization.  The BI developer will be a visionary by learning new technologies, explore alternative methods, tools and techniques on in the world of BI.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Designing and Developing BI Reports and Dashboards
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.
    • Utilize Power BI to gather and transform data from various sources (i.e. Excel, API’s, SQL, SharePoint), creating visually appealing, interactive and meaningful visualizations that present key insights to stakeholders and drive informed decisions.
    • Strong emphasis on UI/UX to enhance customer experience will be key in this position.

  2. Other Development
    • Design, develop, and maintain custom solutions that streamline data entry, enhance user experience, and automate business processes (Power Apps, Dataflows, Workflows, .Net, Python, Etc.).
    • Work closely with end-users to father requirements and ensure that solutions meet their needs effectively.

  3. Machine Learning and AI
    • Be part of our Machine Learning and AI initiatives.

  4. Data Management
    • Manage data sets, ensuring they are clean, accurate and ready for analysis.
    • Implement Relational Database Designs, Star Schemas data models in a MS SQL server environment.
    • Involved in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

  5. Collaboration and Training
    • Collaborate with team members to share best practices, provide technical guidance, and support the adoption of Power BI and other platform tools.
    • Train and Mentor team members and Power Users on using Power BI, SQL server T-SQL, and other tools for their respective needs.

  6. Data Governance and Security
    • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and implement security measures to protect sensitive data within Power BI, SQL server, and other solutions.
    • Stay up to date with Microsoft’s updates and features related to Power BI and other Technologies to maintain best practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Analyst, with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pivot).
  • Able to implement Row level security and have an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.
  • Proficient in making DAX queries in Power BI Desktop
  • Expertise in using advance level calculations on datasets within Power BI.
  • Experience with ERP systems. Infor M3 a plus
  • Working knowledge of Data Lake technologies.
  • Experience with Database Management (SQL Querying, Data Modeling, Online Analytical Processing, Indexing) preferably in a Microsoft Platform (SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SharePoint)
  • Proven experience in Data modeling and the development of multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards
  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and report creation using Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of data transformation, ETL processes, tools, and data modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and best practices for maintaining data accuracy and security.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills with complex technical subjects and tasks.
  • The ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems, and alternative solutions to others.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into effective solutions.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment, estimating solution development, and delivering solutions against those estimates.
  • Experience with Python a plus.
